Day 1
| A strong start
We’ll start with a warm-up off-road ride to Sary-Tash, where we’ll turn towards one of Kyrgyzstan’s highest peaks. Lenin Peak is one of the five 7,000-metre peaks that once made up the legendary Snow Leopard challenge. There is no other 7,000-metre peak that you can ride a motorcycle anywhere near as close to as Lenin Peak. The view in the morning is simply out of this world. Overnight in tents, in what we believe is one of the most beautiful places in Kyrgyzstan.
Day 2
| Tajikistan
We return to Sary-Tash and head for Kyzyl-Art, the border crossing between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. From there, we will follow a rough but spectacular road towards the most beautiful lake you have ever seen in your life.
Overnight in a hotel in Karakul.
Day 3
| Descent to Bartang
We turn towards the Bartang Valley. Yesterday’s settlement by the lake will suddenly feel like the centre of civilisation. For dozens of kilometres, we won’t see a single person. But the views…
Overnight in a 1,000-star hotel — in other words, a tent.
Day 4
| Back to civilisation
That day, we should finally make it back to civilisation — and reach the Afghan border. There will be internet and shops! We need a little rest, so we’ll settle in on the verandas of Pamir Lodge.
Day 5
| Roshtkala is beautiful
We’ll make a loop into the Roshtkala Valley. Very few people venture this way — certainly not on a GS 1200. But these are exactly the kind of routes we have deliberately chosen for you.
We’ll see Engels Peak. It’s absolutely worth it — simply spectacular. We’ll return to Khorog for the night.
Day 6
| Along the Panj River
We’ll ride through the Wakhan Valley all the way to the hot springs. It will be an easy day, and the road itself won’t present much of a challenge. But the views…
Some people say this is the most beautiful section of the entire journey. The evening will be unforgettable.
Overnight in a small local hotel.
Day 7
| Pamir Highway
We continue riding along the Afghan border. We say goodbye to the Panj River and follow the Pamir River before finally crossing Khargush Pass and joining the legendary Pamir Highway. We’ll ride its asphalt for around 100 kilometres before escaping back into the mountains. Overnight in tents.
Day 8
| Border Tripoint
This will be a day far away from civilisation. We’ll roam across high-altitude plateaus, riding at elevations above 4,000 metres. Perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of China and stop at the tripoint where the borders of Tajikistan, China and Afghanistan meet.
Day 9
| Let's take a look at China
A gravel-road day, but with no real difficulties. We’ll ride along the Chinese border and stop at Rang Kul Lake.
Overnight in tents.
Day 10
| The highest pass
Back on the M41, we’ll refuel properly in Murghab and set off towards Karakul to complete our Pamir loop. Along the way, we’ll cross Ak-Baital Pass, the highest pass on the entire route, at 4,655 metres above sea level.
Overnight in a guesthouse.
Day 11
| Alay Valley
Just tarmac to Osh. But spectacular.
Day 12
| Reserve day
This is a reserve day — we’re sure we’ll use it earlier in the trip.
