Description
The tour from Alaska to California is part of our project that will allow you to ride around the world. We will fly the motorcycles to Alaska and then set off to conquer another great motorcycle dream.
We will spend some time in Anchorage, soaking up the atmosphere of this remote corner of the world, before heading out to the real end of the road — the gravel Dalton Highway towards Prudhoe Bay. We will cross the Arctic Circle, dip our feet in the Arctic Ocean, check the temperature of the Beaufort Sea, and then turn back south. Those who don’t fancy riding north on the gravel road can wait for the rest of the group, and we will all meet up again in Fairbanks.
And beyond that, beautiful Canada will be waiting for us.
Our route will then take us through the Yukon into British Columbia. In Watson Lake, we will visit the legendary Signpost Forest, before turning south onto the 700-kilometre-long Stewart–Cassiar Highway — one of Canada’s most famous motorcycle routes.
On the way to Stewart, we will see the spectacular Salmon Glacier. From there, our route will lead us through the Canadian Rockies to Jasper National Park, one of the most spectacular sections of the entire expedition. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, this vast wilderness is where the sheer scale of the mountains, glaciers, lakes and wildlife truly shows the grandeur of western Canada.
As we ride through the park, we will follow the Icefields Parkway — one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the world. We will see Athabasca Falls, the spectacular Athabasca Glacier, and countless viewpoints overlooking the rugged landscape of the Rocky Mountains.
After crossing the border into the United States, one of the most spectacular moments of the entire expedition awaits us — Going-to-the-Sun Road. This world-famous road through Glacier National Park combines technically demanding riding, high altitude and breathtaking scenery.
We will then head out to see the famous road leading to the Tomboy Mine. Hopefully, it will be open…
And from there, it’s straight on to San Francisco.
For those who need to head home, San Francisco will be the end of the expedition. For those who can stay with us a little longer, we will leave the motorcycles in California. In September, we will return for them and set off on the next stage of our journey around the world — from California across America all the way to New York.
